Amendments to 8 notifications Notification No. 66/89-C.E. Dated 1-3-1989 In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 5A of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby directs that each of the notifications of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) specified in column (2) of the Table hereto annexed, shall be amended, or further amended, as the case may be, in the manner specified in the corresponding entry in column (3) of the said Table. No. Notification No. and date Amendment (1) (2) (3) 01. 450/86-Central Ex cises, dated the 17th November, 1986 In the Table annexed to the said notification, against S.No. 1, in column (2), for the words and figures "Rs. 365 per tonne", the words and figures "Rs. 1000 per tonne" shall be substituted. 02. 171/88-Central Ex cises, dated the 13th May, 1988 In the Table annexed to the said notification, S. No. 04 and the entries relating thereto shall be omitted. 03. 172/88-Central Ex cises, dated the 13th May, 1988 In the Table annexed to the said notification, - (i) for S. No. 03, and the entries relating thereto, the following S. No. and entries shall be substituted, namely, - (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) "03. 7206.90 and 72.24 Ingots or other pri mary forms of- (a) non-al loy Steel, and (b) other alloy steel Rs. 250 per tonne If, - (i) required for use for the ma nufacture of rails and sleepers (cross-ties) whi ch are used for railway tracks, and (ii) the proce dure set out in Chapter X of the said Rules is followed"; and (ii) against S. No. 04, in column (4), for the words "Rupees one hundred and ninety per tonne", the words and figures "Rs. 250 per tonne" shall be substituted. 04. 174/88-Central Excises, dated the 13th May, 1988 In the Table annexed to the said notification, - (i) S. No. 04, and the entries relating thereto shall be omitted; and (ii) against S. No. 05, in column (4) - (a) for the words and figures "Rs. 500 per tonne", the words and figures "Rs. 700 per tonne" shall be substituted; (b) for the words and figures "Rs. 715 per tonne", the words and figures "Rs. 900 per tonne" shall he substituted; (c) for the words and figures "Rs. 975 per tonne", the words and figures "Rs. 1200 per tonne" shall be substituted; (d) for the words and figures "Rs. 1375 per tonne", the words and figures "Rs. 1600 per tonne" shall be substituted. 05. 175/88-Central Excises, dated the 13th May, 1988 In the Table annexed to the said notification, - (i) against S. No. 01, in column (3), for the words "Tubes and pipes of steel", the words "Tubes and pipes of steel (other than stainless steel)" shall be substituted; (ii) against S. No. 01, in column (4). - (a) for the words and figures "Rs. 500 per tonne", the words and figures "Rs. 700 per tonne" shall be substituted; (b) for the words and figures "Rs. 715 per tonne", the words and figures "Rs. 900 per tonne" shall be substituted; (iii) after S. No. 01 and the entries relating thereto, the following S. No. and entries shall be inserted, namely :- (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) "01A 7305.90 and 7306.90 Tubes and pipes of stainless steel Rs. 100 per tonne If made from hot-rolled or cold-rolled products produced in India Rs. 1100 per tonne plus the duty for the time being leviable on stainless steel ingots. 06. 202/88-Central Excises, dated the 20th May, 1988 In the Table annexed to the said notification, against S. No. 02, in column (3), for the words and figures "and hot-rolled strips, other than galvanised strips, exceeding 5 mm in thickness", the words and figures "flats exceeding 5 mm in thickness and hot-rolled strips (other than galvanised strips) exceeding 5 mm in thickness" shall be substituted. 7. 223/88-Central Excises, dated the 23rd June, 1988 In the Table annexed to the said notification, for S. Nos. 01 to 04 and the entries relating thereto, the following S. Nos. and entries shall be substituted, namely,- (1) (2) (3) (4) "01. Any heading or sub-heading of Chapters 73, 84, 85, 86 or 87 Castings and cast articles of iron Rs. 200 per tonne 02. Any heading or sub-heading of Chapters 73, 84, 85, 86 or 87 Castings and cast articles of steel (other than stainless steel) Rs. 600 per tonne 03. Any heading or sub-heading of Chapters 73, 84, 85, 86 or 87 Castings and cast articles of stainless steel Rs. 1500 per tonne 04. Any heading or sub-heading of Chapters 73, 84, 85, 86 or 87 Forgings and forged articles of steel (other than stainless steel) Rs. 800 per tonne 05. Any heading or sub-heading of Chapters 72, 73, 84, 85, 86 or 87 Forgings and forged articles of stainless steel Rs. 1500 per tonne". 08. 232/88-Central Excises, dated the 15th July, 1988 In the said notification, for the words "copper-coated steel strips", the words "copper-coated and lead-coated steel strips" shall be substituted.
