Effective rates of duty on tread rubber manufactured by small units Notification No. 44/89-C.E. Dated 1-3-1989 In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 5A of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 56/88-Central Excises, dated the 1st March, 1988, namely :- In the said notification, - (a) in the opening paragraph, - (i) in clause (a), for the words "rupees five", the words "rupees five and paise twenty five" shall be substituted; (ii) in clause (b), for the words "rupees seven", the words "rupees seven and paise thirty five" shall be substituted; (iii) in clause (c), for the words "rupees eleven", the words "rupees eleven and paise fifty five" shall be substituted; (b) in Explanation II, after the words and figures "Central Excise Rules, 1944", the words, brackets, figures and letter "or under sub-section (1) of section 5A of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944)" shall be inserted.
