Service Tax under Finance Act, 1997 Leviable on CHA and Steamer agents from 15-6-1997 [Notification No. 17/97-Service Tax, dated 6-6-1997 ] In exercise of the powers conferred by section 88 of the Finance Act, 1997 (26 of 1997), the Central Government hereby appoints the 15th day of June, 1997, as the date on which the provisions of the said section of the said Act shall come into force except the service tax on taxable services specified in sub-clauses (g), (j), (k), (l), (m), (n), (o), (p), (q) and (r) of clause (41) of section 65 of the Finance Act, 1994 (32 of 1994).
