ISAMRA, MCAI, and SWA Unite on World IP Day to Champion India’s Music Creators

In a landmark move, three of India's leading creative organisations — ISAMRA (Indian Singers' and Musicians' Rights Association), MCAI (Music Composers Association of India), and SWA (Screenwriters Association) — have come together on World Intellectual Property (IP) Day 2025 to reaffirm their commitment to the rights and recognition of India’s music creators.

This year, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has dedicated World IP Day to music creators worldwide, spotlighting the essential contributions of composers, lyricists, singers, and musicians. In India, where music is deeply woven into the cultural and emotional fabric of society, the day carries even greater significance.

To mark the occasion, ISAMRA, MCAI, and SWA have announced the creation of a collaborative anthem, which will be released on World Music Day, June 21, 2025. The anthem will symbolise the collective spirit of India's music industry — a tribute to unity, dignity, and the shared heartbeat of creators across the country.

“Music is the lifeline of humanity. It is a proud moment that the apex bodies representing composers, writers, singers, and musicians are uniting to create a stronger musical ecosystem for India,” said Sanjay Tandon, Founder and Managing Director of ISAMRA.

“Today’s solidarity reminds us that music is a collective creation. Every melody, every lyric, every voice deserves recognition and respect,” said Indrajit ‘Tubby’ Sharma, General Secretary of MCAI.

“When creators come together, it becomes harmony. This collaboration, on a World IP Day dedicated by WIPO to music, is a step towards building a fairer and more respectful creative ecosystem,” said Zama Habib, General Secretary of SWA.

World IP Day 2025 thus becomes not just a celebration of creativity, but a powerful reminder: that behind every song lies a creator whose work deserves to be honoured, protected, and celebrated.
