Article 1 - Short title and commencement - Constitution (44th Amendment) Act, 1978Extract MINISTRY OF LAW, JUSTICE AND COMPANY AFFAIRS (Legislative Department) New Delhi, the 3th April, 1979/Vaisakha 10, 1901 (Saka) The following Act of Parliament received the assent of the President on the 30th April, 1979, and is hereby published for general information: THE CONSTITUTION (FORTY-FOURTH AMENDMENT) ACT, 1978 [30th April, 1979.] An Act further to amend the Constitution of India. BE It enacted by Parliament in the Twenty-ninth Year of the Republic of India as follows: 1. Short title and commencement . (1) This Act may be called the Constitution (Forty-fourth Amendment) Act, 1978. (2) It shall come into force on such date [ 1 ][ 2 ] as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act. **************** NOTES:- 1 . Shall come into force w.e.f. 19th day of June, 1979 vide G.S.R. 383(E), dated 19-6-1979. 2 . Shall come into force w.e.f. 19th day of June, 1979 vide G.S.R. 529(E), dated 5-9-1979.
