The website for e-way bill is designed by National Informatics Centre. The website address is  https://www.ewaybill.nic.in/. One time registration is required in this website to obtain user id and password. The registration in this website can be done by a taxpayer, a transporter and by a citizens through the registration option in the header of the website.

Once login credential is obtained a taxpayer can login to the website with his user id, password. After login into the website options like e-Way bill, Consolidated EWB, Reject, Reports, My Masters, User Management, Registration, Update and Grievance becomes available at the left hand side of the website.

In the middle of the page the statistics like e-way bill generated by me, e-way bill cancelled by me, e-way bill rejected by me, e-way bill generated by other party on my GSTIN, e-way bill rejected by other party, e-way bill pending for Part-B updation is available. The statistics is available for last three days. At the bottom of the webpage the latest updates on e-way bill is also made available.

E-way bill: In this tab following options are available-

i) generate new: to generate e-way bill for single invoice

ii) generate bulk: to generate e-way bill for more than one invoice at a time.

iii) update Part B/vehicle: to update transport details. One can update the details by searching the already generated e-way bill with Part A details.

iv) update vehicle bulk: an upload template is available with which one can update the vehicle   details for more than one invoice.

v) change to multi vehicle: This option will allow taxpayer to move the goods in multiple vehicles for the selected e-way bill.

vi) extend validity: validity of e-way bill can be extended through this option.

vii) update e-way bill transporter: transporter details can be updated through this option

viii) update e-way bill Trans.-bulk: upload option is available to update transport details

ix) cancel: e-way bill can be cancelled through this option

x) print e-way bill: e-way bill can be printed through this option.

Consolidated E-way bill: In this tab the following options are available.  

i) generate new: consolidated -e-way bill can be generated from this option

ii) generate bulk: uploading facility is given in this option to generate bulk e-way bill.

iii) re-generate: e-way bill can be regenerated from this option with new transporter details.

iv) print consolidated e-way: print out of the e-way bill can be taken from this option.

Reports: In this tab following options are available

i) my e-way bill reports:

a) outward supplies: e-way bill generated during a particular period can be seen through this option.       

b) inward supplies: e-way bill generated during a particular period can be seen through this option.       

c) CEWB generated by me: list of consolidated e-way bill generated can be seen here

d) cancelled e-way bill: list of cancelled e-way bill is available here

e) rejected e-way bill  by me:  list of rejected e-way bill is found here

f) assigned for transporters: list of e-way bill assigned for transporters is found here

g) pending for Part-B EWBs: list of e-way bill pending for Part-B updated is found here

h) Doc. no. info: e-way bill report can be obtained based on document type and   document number.       

i) EWB about to expire: list of e-way bill about to expire is found here

 ii) others e-way bill reports

a) generated by others: taxpayer can see the list of e-way bills generated by his suppliers/ customers etc.

b) rejected e-way bills by other: the list of e-way bill rejected by the customer is found here

c) ass. to me for transporter: list of e-way bill assigned for transport is found here

iii) master reports

a) my masters:  here masters of customers, suppliers, transporters, products can be maintained so that it populates while e-way bill is generated.

b) EWB masters: here unit quantity code and State code list is available.

iv) summary reports.

a) date wise activities: list of e-way bill generated during a particular period can be seen here. The e-way bill of which Part-B is not updated will not appear here.

My Masters: Under this option

i) products: here product master like product name, measurement unit, description, HSN code, HSN name, CSGT & SGST, IGST, Cess, Cess non-advol can be maintained here. This master will be save time when generated e-way bill as details will not required to be typed manually.

ii) clients: here registered customer GSTIN can be maintained. Details of unregistered   customers can also be maintained here.

iii) suppliers: here registered and unregistered suppliers GSTIN can be maintained.

iv) transporters: here transporter master can be maintained.

v) bulk upload: here the details of products, customers, suppliers, transporter can be updated by using upload json file.

User management:

i) create sub-user: a user can create a sub-user. say if, more than one person is going to generate e-way bill then user id for each of them can be given through this option.

ii) freeze sub-user: a sub-user can be freezed so as not to allow him to login to the website.

iii) update sub-user: information of sub-user can be updated through this option.

iv) change password: a user can change his login password through this option.

Registration: options

i) for SMS: e-way bill system provides the user to generate e-way bill from different modes. In order to generate e-way bill from SMS the user need to register on the website as generating e-way bill from SMS.

ii) for mobile: user need to register on the website to generate e-way bill from mobile.

iii) for GSP: user need to register their GST Suvidha provider in the website so that the user can generate e-way from GSP.

iv) for API: user need to register his API in the website so that system allows to generate e-way bill through API.

v) common enrolment: here the registered transporter can generate a common  enrolment number which will allow him to use one registration number for generating the e-way bills and   updating Part-B throughout the country.

Update:

i) transporter/tax payer: Under this option the E-Way Bill system allows a user to generate an e-way bill for other parties as a Transporter/Taxpayer. By using this option a user can change himself into a Transporter/Taxpayer, which enables him to generate e-way Bill for other parties. Any time, the user can change between tax payer and transporter

 iii) my GSTIN from CP: The E-Way Bill system allows a user to update their business details from the GST common portal. Once updated successfully, these details can be auto populated in various e-Way bill modules based on GSTIN as and when required

Grievance: under this option

i) detention Form EWB-04 is available: The system has a provision that allows the tax payers/transporter to file a grievance for cases where a vehicle has been intercepted by the officers and detained for a period exceeding thirty minutes unnecessarily.

E-Way Bill System for Citizens: A person who wants to generate e-way bills to move goods but is not registered under the GST system can use this option. To generate e-way bill, a person who is not registered on the GST System has to enroll himself on the EWB Portal.

Suggestion: Mistakes are common while generating e-way bill as the user want to generate it fast. The reason could be that the transporter is waiting or customer want the material at the earliest. If the details are incorrect ten there is no other option tan to cancel the e-way bill. In order to avoid such mistakes one can create the masters in the website so that most of the details will auto populate while generating e-way bill.

There is also one case law of High Court wherein it has been held that penalty cannot imposed upon the party due to human error in the e-way bill.
