Date: 28.02.2017 PUBLIC NOTICE No. 03/2017-Cus. Sub: Customs -Notification of FSSAl's Authorised Officer under Section 47(5) of FSS Act, 2006-Reg. Attention of the trade is invited to the Public Notice No.22/2016-Cus., dated 18/11/2016 on the above subject. During the CCFC meetings held at Krishnapatnam Customs House on 27/01/2017 and Kakinada Customs House on 06/02/2017, Trade has represented that, 1. Present procedure of drawal of two sets of samples, one for CRCL labs at Visakhapatnam/Chennai and other for NABL accredited labs under FSSAI Act may be confined to drawal of one set of sample to NABL accredited labs under FSSAI Act 2011 2. Provisional Assessments can be avoided if samples are to sent NABL accredited labs as test report will be received within 24 hours. 2. The trade representation has been considered and the following procedure is prescribed, with effect from 01/03/2017. 3. Present system of drawal of two sets of samples shall be replaced with drawal of one set of sample. The sample can be sent to CRCL of any of the NABL accredited laboratories of Importer's choice. For trade at Kakinada Customs House, the NABL accredited lab facility is available at JNTUK University, Kakinada. Similarly, for trade at Krishnapatnam Customs House, the NABL accredited lab facilities are available at Chennai. 4. If the test report of NABL lab contains the values of all parameters specified by FSSAI Act 2011, Customs Act, 1962 and for Notification 12/2012-customs, dt.17/03/2012 as amended and report satisfied the prescribed limit, no need to send samples for testing to CRCL and accordingly, there need not be any provisional assessment on this account. 5. All the members of the Trade Associations, Customs Brokers Associations and Public are hereby informed with by this Public Notice.
