Rescinds the sector specific Special Economic Zone for IT/ITES sector at Bidhannagar Township Durgapur District Burdwan, West Bengal - S.O. 340(E) - Special Economic Zone

MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (Department of Commerce) NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 7th February, 2013 S.O. 340(E).-Whereas, M/s. Bengal Shapoorji Infrastructure Development Private Limited had proposed under Section 3 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 (28 of 2005), (hereinafter referred to as the said Act) to set up a sector specific Special Economic Zone for IT/ITES sector at Bidhannagar Township Durgapur District Burdwan, West Bengal; And, Whereas, the Central Government, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 4 of the said Act read with rule 8 of the Special Economic Zone Rules 2006 , had notified an area of 10.12 hectares vide Ministry of Commerce and Industry Notification Numbers S.O. 422(E), dated 9th February, 2009 , as Special Economic Zone; And, Whereas, M/s. Bengal Shapoorji Infrastructure Development Private Limited has proposed to denotify the entire area of 10.12 hectares of the above Special Economic Zone and the Central Government has granted letter of approval for denotification of above area on 27th September, 2012; Now, Therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by first proviso to rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules 2006 , the Central Government hereby rescinds the above notification except as respects things done or omitted to be done before such rescission.
