Both Houses of Bihar Legislature adjourned sine die

Patna, Mar 27 (PTI) Both Houses of Bihar Legislature were adjourned sine die after the stormy budget session came to an end on Thursday.

Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav adjourned the Assembly sine die while Chairperson Awadhesh Narain Singh did so in the Legislative Council.

Governor Arif Mohammad Khan addressed the joint session on the opening day of the budget session on February 28. Both Houses passed the state's budget for 2025-26.

Four Bills including Bihar Appropriation Bill 2025, Bihar Appropriation Bill (2) 2025 and Bihar Cooperative Society (Amendment) Bill 2025 were also cleared.

“Of the total 3,857 questions received during the budget session, 2,944 were accepted by the assembly secretariat,” the Speaker said, adding that replies on 29 calling attentions were given by the government during the month-long session.

“Many important issues related to public welfare were raised through calling attention notices and questions,” Yadav said.

As far as the Legislative Council is concerned, its Chairman Awadhesh Narain Singh said, “Altogether 1,485 questions were submitted to the Council, of which 1,300 were approved. Other issues related to public welfare were raised through 74 calling attention notices and questions”.

Earlier in the day in the assembly, opposition members staged a walkout alleging diversion of funds meant for SC/ST welfare measures for some other work by the government.
