Creating Synergy Between Data Providers and Consumers The National Statistics Office (NSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), Government of India, is organizing a Data User’s Conference in collaboration with the Indian School of Business (ISB), on 27th May 2025, at the Khemka Auditorium, ISB Campus, Gachibowli, Hyderabad. The Conference will provide an interactive platform for data producers and users to engage on recent data innovations and findings from the Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (ASUSE) 2023–24 and the Forward-Looking Survey on Private Sector Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) Investment Intentions. The Data User’s Conference will be chaired by Dr. Saurabh Garg, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. The distinguished dignitaries, including Shri Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary to the Government of Telangana, Dr. V. Anantha Nageswaran, Chief Economic Advisor, Govt. of India; Prof. Madan M. Pillutla, Dean, Indian School of Business; and Ms. Geeta Singh Rathore, Director General, National Sample Survey (NSS), will grace the occasion and share their insights. The event will host approximately 200 participants, comprising researchers, academicians, economists, industrial associations and trade bodies, policymakers, representatives from international organizations, representatives from enterprises as well as esteemed institutions from academia and the media. Domain Experts and members of the National Statistical Commission (NSC) will also be present. The inaugural session will be followed by technical sessions, panel discussion and an open discussion. The technical sessions on these enterprise and investment-related surveys will provide an overview of the sampling design, coverage, and methodological innovations adopted. These sessions will feature presentations from both data producers and users, offering a comprehensive perspective on the survey processes and findings. Key insights will be highlighted, including sector-wise trends, enterprise behaviour, and emerging investment strategies. The discussions will also explore the relevance of these surveys in shaping sector-specific policies, strengthening enterprise data systems, and supporting forward-looking economic analysis. A panel discussion will follow, which will feature distinguished experts, including Shri Dharmakirti Joshi, Chief Economist, CRISIL; Dr. M. Suresh Babu, Director, Madras Institute of Development Studies (MIDS), Chennai; Prof. Rishi Kumar, BITS Pilani; Prof. C. Veeramani, Director, Centre for Development Studies (CDS), Thiruvananthapuram; and Dr. Pallavi Choudhuri, Senior Fellow and Deputy Director, National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER). The Panellists will offer insights into the data’s significance for research, policy formulation, and industry analysis. The panel discussion is expected to foster a deeper understanding of the practical implications of the survey findings. It will likely generate actionable recommendations for enhancing data quality, increasing policy relevance, and addressing data gaps. The dialogue may also help strengthen collaboration between data producers and users for more responsive and informed decision-making. Following the panel discussion, the floor will be opened for an open interaction, allowing participants to engage directly with the speakers and panellists. The event will conclude with a brief outlining of reflections and takeaways from the discussions held throughout the conference. This conference is designed to reinforce MoSPI’s commitment to enhancing the country’s statistical framework. |
