Landmark Ruling Mandates Inclusive Digital KYC Protocols for Persons with Disabilities in Financial Services

May 24, 2025

Circulars     SEBI

SC mandated enhanced digital KYC accessibility for persons with disabilities, directing SEBI to implement inclusive financial service protocols. The regulatory circular requires all registered intermediaries to modify digital Know Your Customer processes to accommodate individuals with disabilities, particularly those with visual impairments. Intermediaries must redesign digital platforms to ensure equal access and service availability, guided by updated FAQ guidelines. The directive aims to eliminate systemic barriers in financial service access, emphasizing comprehensive inclusivity in digital onboarding procedures across securities and financial platforms.
