Exemption to television sets Notification No. 77/87-C.E. Dated 1-3-1987 In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of rule 8 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, the Central Government hereby makes the following further amendments in the notifi cation of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 68/86-Central Excises, dated the 10th February, 1986, namely :- In the said notification, - (1) In the Table, - (i) for Serial No. 19 and the entries relating thereto, the following Serial No. and entries shall be substituted, namely :- (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) "19. 85.28 Broadcast television receiver sets (other than monochrome sets) of screen size exceeding 36 centimetres and of a value,- (i) not exceeding Rs. 5,000 per set. Rupees 1500.00 per set. - (ii) exceeding Rs. 5,000 per set. Rupees 1750.00 per set.". - (ii) Serial No. 22 and the entries relating thereto, shall be omitted; and (2) the following Explanation shall be inserted at the end, namely :- "Explanation. - In this notification, the expression "value" referred to in Serial No. 19 of the Table means the value as determined in accordance with the provisions of section 4 of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944).".
