Rescinds the sector specific Special Economic Zone for information technology and information technology enabled services at Village Sholinganallur; Taluka Tambaram, District Kanchipuram in the State of Tamil Nadu; - S.O. 200(E), - Special Economic Zone

MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (Department of Commerce) Notification New Delhi, the 31st January, 2012 U/s. 4 of the SEZ Act, 2005 - Set up a sector specific Special Economic Zone for information technology and information technology enabled services at Village Sholinganallur; Taluka Tambaram, District Kanchipuram in the State of Tamil Nadu; S.O. 200(E), - Whereas, M/s. NSL SEZ (Chennai) Private Limited (formerly, M/s. Nuziveedu Seeds Limited and then M/s. Zillion Estates Private Limited) had proposed under section 3 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 (28 of 2005), (hereinafter referred to as the said Act) to set up a sector specific Special Economic Zone for information technology and information technology enabled services at Village Sholinganallur; Taluka Tambaram, District Kanchipuram in the State of Tamil Nadu; And, whereas, the Central Government, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 4 of the said Act read with rule 8 of the Special Economic Zone Rules, 2006, had notified an area of 18.60.4 hectares at above location as Special Economic Zone vide Ministry of Commerce and Industry Notification Number S.O. 709(E), dated 3rd May, 2007; And, whereas, M/s. NSL SEZ (Chennai) Private Limited has proposed to denotify the entire area of 18.60.4 hectares of the above Special Economic Zone and the Central Government has granted letter of approval for denotification of above area on 27th December, 2011; Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by first proviso to rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules, 2006 , the Central Government hereby rescinds the above notification except as respects things done or omitted to be done before such rescission.
