Smt. Gursharan Kaur, Wife of the Prime Minister of India will inaugurate Exhibition cum sale “Textiles from Rajasthan & Gujarat” as part of the Handloom Month tomorrow at 11.00 a.m. at Central Cottage Industries Corporation Of India Ltd showroom at Janpath, New Delhi.

Central Cottage Industries Corporation of India Limited (CCICL) through its showrooms in New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Chennai markets handicrafts and handlooms products sourced from weavers, master weavers, artisans, craftpersons and master craftsmen and National Awardees, Shilp Gurus and clusters. The emporium showcases the finest crafts from all over India under one roof ranging from exquisite sculptures, paintings, artefacts, metal ware, woodcraft, pottery, stoneware & marble craft, branded Bankura silver, carpets, furniture, furnishings, home linen, sarees, ready to wear, accessories, jewellery, craft items, herbal products and much more. Each product is unique reflecting the traditional myths, folklores, religious beliefs, cultural ethos and rich heritage of India.

In an endeavour to celebrate and promote the Indian Textile Heritage, Central Cottage Industries Corporation of India Ltd. has organized a Handloom Month from 19th December 2012 – 27th January 2013 in Delhi and branches titled “Timeless Threads” comprising of a series of Seven Day exhibitions dedicated to the authentic textiles from specific states namely Kashmir, Varanasi, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat.

The celebration of Handloom Month in CCIC showrooms, for the first time ever, envisages the handloom exhibitions on four broad themes. Finest embroided Handlooms from Kashmir (including Pashmina and Kani shawls), weaves from Varanasi, Kantha embroided work from West Bengal & Chikan embroided products from UP and other embroideries from Gujarat and Rajasthan will be on display. One gets to see finest selections of creations of weavers, master weavers, National Awardees and Shilp Gurus, Clusters and live demonstrations on looms have been organised for the customers to see and understand the process of weaving.
