2023 (10) TMI 1493 - HC - GSTDirection to respondent to renew the GST registration of the petitioner based on the representation dated 07.08.2023 - HELD THAT - Considering the facts and circumstances of the case this Court is inclined to direct the respondent to consider the representation made by the petitioner dated 07.08.2023 and dispose of the same on merits within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order. Petition disposed off.
In the case before the Madras High Court, presided over by The Hon'ble Mr. Justice Krishnan Ramasamy, the petitioner sought a writ directing the respondent to renew their GST registration based on a representation submitted on August 7, 2023. The petitioner, represented by Mr. M. Prem Kumar, argued that all necessary documents had been furnished to the Department for the renewal process, yet no action had been taken by the respondent.
Ms. Hema Muralikrishnan, the Senior Standing Counsel for the respondent, acknowledged that the petition aimed solely at obtaining a directive for the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation. The Court, after hearing both parties and reviewing the materials on record, directed the respondent to assess the petitioner's representation dated August 7, 2023, and to decide on its merits within four weeks from receiving the order. The writ petition was disposed of with this directive, and no costs were imposed.
