Central Government de-notifies an area of 13.297 hectares, thereby making resultant area as 139.300 hectares at Sholinganallur, Sholinganallur Taluk, Chennai District in the State of Tamil Nadu - S.O. 1985(E). - Special Economic Zone

MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (Department of Commerce) (SEZ DIVISION) NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 1st May, 2025 S.O. 1985(E). Whereas, M/s. Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited, had proposed under section 3 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 (28 of 2005), (hereinafter referred to as the said Act) to set up a sector specific Special Economic Zone for Information Technology and Information Technology Enabled Services at Sholinganallur, Sholinganallur Taluk, Chennai District in the State of Tamil Nadu; And, whereas, the Central Government, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 4 of the said Act read with rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules 2006 , had notified an area of 152.665 hectares at the above Special Economic Zone vide Ministry of Commerce and Industry Notification Number S.O. 563(E) dated 11th April, 2007 ; AND, WHEREAS, M/s. Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited has now proposed for de-notification of 13.297 hectares from the above Special Economic Zone; AND, WHEREAS, the State Government of Tamil Nadu has given its approval to the proposal vide letter No.8795068/MIB.1/2024-1 dated 5th December, 2024. Further, the land proposed for partial de-notification is needed back to Government of Tamil Nadu for Public purpose; AND, WHEREAS, the Development Commissioner, Madras Special Economic Zone has recommended the proposal for de-notification of an area of 13.297 hectares of the Special Economic Zone. NOW, WHEREAS, the Central Government is satisfied that the requirements under sub-section (8) of section 3 of the said Act and other related requirements are fulfilled; NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by second proviso to sub-section (1) of section 4 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 and in pursuance of rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules, 2006 , the Central Government hereby de-notifies an area of 13.297 hectares, thereby making resultant area as 139.300 hectares.
