This notification seeks to amend Rules 49 and 173G of Central Excise Rules, 1944 changing the last date of payment of duty in the second fortnight of March 14 th March, 2001 Notification No. 10 /2001-Central Excise ( N. T.) G.S.R. (E).- In exercise of the powers conferred by section 37 of the Central Excise Act,1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Central Excise Rules,1944, namely:- 1. (1) These rules may be called the Central Excise (Fourth Amendment) Rules, 2001. (2) They shall come into force on and from the 14 th day of March, 2001. 2. In rule 49 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944 (hereinafter referred to as the said rules), in sub-rule (1), in clause (a), for sub clause (iii), the following sub-clause shall be substituted, namely:- " (iii) during the second fortnight of March, by the 31 st day of the said March.". 3. In rule 173G of the said rules, in sub-rule (1), in clause (a), for sub clause (iii), the following sub-clause shall be substituted, namely:- "(iii) during the second fortnight of March, by the 31 st day of the said March.".
