Amendments in the Central Excise Rules, 1944 Notification No. 27/99-CE(N.T.) Dated 3/5/1999 In exercise of the powers conferred by section 37 of the Central Excise Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government hereby makes of the following rules further to amend the Central Excise Rules, 1944, namely :- 1. (1) These rules may be called the Central Excise (Eighth Amendment) Rules, 1999. (2) They shall come into force on the date of Publication in The Official Gazette. 2. In the Central Excise Rules, 1944, in rule 2,- (a) in clause (4) (i) In item (xxvii), for the word and figure ""Indore-I"", the Word ""Indore"" shall be substituted; (ii) In item (xxviii), for the word and figures ""Indore-II"", the Word ""Bhopal"" shall be substituted; (iii) in item (1ii), for the word and figure ""Kanpur-I"", the word ""Kanpur"" shall be substituted; (iv) in item (1iii), for the word and figures ""Kanpur-II"", the word ""Lucknow"" shall be substituted; (b) in clause (5),- (i) in item (iv),- (A) in sub-item (a), for the word and figure ""Indore- I"", the word ""Indore"" shall be substituted; (B) in sub-item (b), for the word and figure ""Indore- II"", the word ""Bhopal"" shall be substituted; (ii) in item (x),- (A) in sub-item (c), for the word and figure ""Kanpur- I"", the word ""Kanpure"" shall be substituted; (B) in sub-item (d), for the word and figure ""Kanpur- II"", the word ""Lucknow"" shall be substituted; (c) in clause (6),- (i) in item (v),- (A) in sub-item (c), for the word and figure ""Kanpur-I"", the word ""Kanpur"" shall be substituted; (B) in sub-item (d), for the word and figure ""Kanpur-II"", the word ""Lucknow"" shall be substituted; (ii) in item (ix),- (C) in sub-item (c), for the word and figure ""Indore-I"", the word ""Indore"" shall be substituted; (D) in sub-item (d), for the word and figure ""Indore -II"", the word ""Bhopal"" shall be substituted;
