Thane, May 8 (PTI) Two revenue department officials from Maharashtra’s Raigad district have been arrested for allegedly demanding and accepting bribes to update land records, an Anti-Corruption Bureau official said on Thursday. Accused Vijay Mapuskar, who serves as a circle officer, and Vasundara Dhumal, a talathi, are posted in the Alibag area, the official said. The complainant had been given the authority to get “land mutation” done on behalf of a woman for a property in Revdanda. However, Mapuskar and Dhumal allegedly demanded Rs 5,000 each for the work, said ACB’s Deputy Superintendent of Police Sashikant Padave. After being alerted, ACB laid a trap and arrested the revenue officials on Wednesday, Padave said. Both have been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act. A court has remanded the two in the custody of the ACB till May 10, he added. PTI COR NR Source: PTI |
